Snowmaking Begins in West Virginia
The snow was falling in parts of the state early on Monday morning with more snow in the forecast for some areas later this week.
At Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Pocahontas County, the natural snowfall was getting some help from the snowmakers. The snow guns started going on the slopes at Snowshoe Mountain at nine o’clock on Monday morning.
Actually there are some meteorologists saying that we could get as much as a couple of inches of snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
The 2008-2009 ski and snowboard season is scheduled to open on November 26th at Snowshoe Mountain.
The season will open at West Virginia’s other major resorts including Winterplace, Oglebay, Canaan Valley and Timberline in late November or early December. As soon as Mother Nature allows the nordic areas will be opening for the season.
