SKI SEASON WINDING DOWN IN WEST VIRGINIA

Greetings –

Spring began this past Thursday and plenty of snow remains in the mountains of West Virginia, the home for the region’s top ski resorts Canaan Valley, Oglebay, Snowshoe Mountain, Timberline and Winterplace. More snow is in the forecast for the higher elevations in the Mountain State the next couple of days. Nearly 80 percent of the state’s 164 trails are open for skiers and snowboarders as this season begins to wind down.

The snowmakers at all of the state’s resorts have worked hard whenever the temperatures have allowed this season and the best end of the season turns in the region can be found in West Virginia. Canaan Valley finished up the seasons this past Sunday, March 23, followed by Snowshoe Mountain and Winterplace on March 30 and Timberline on April 6. Oglebay is open today, Monday, March 24 but will be closed Tuesday through Friday, reopening Saturday, March 29, conditions permitting.

There are a number of activities at West Virginia winter resorts the final weekends and the best way to find out what’s happening in the mountain state is to click on a resort location at the bottom of this page. Spring is here but the conditions remain strong for skiing, riding and tubing in the mountains of West Virginia.
